October 2019
On Wednesday, October 30th, prior to the
Owen Sound Attack taking on the Flint Firebirds,
Bumstead Insurance & Financial presented
Mark Woolley with an incredible $9000 donation in support of Woolley’s Warriors.
President of Bumstead Insurance & Financial, Justin Bumstead, connected with WW28 shortly after the launch of the organization in August eagerly wanting to support the cause with an offer to use the annual Client Appreciation event as a way to raise funds for both Woolley’s Warriors, and The Clare “Flea” and Marj Christie Fund.
Through this event, celebrating Bumstead’s 40th anniversary on October 11th, Bumstead Insurance & Financial raised $9,000 for Woolley’s Warriors.
Mark Woolley and WW28 could not be more grateful for the amazing support and generosity displayed by the whole team at Bumstead Insurance & Financial, helping us achieve our goal of sending young athletes to Diabetes Canada’s D-Camps this summer! This goal is now a huge reality and it is in large thanks to the Bumstead team!
We also raised another $4,000 in donations towards www.flea-marj.com helping minor Hockey funding in Owen Sound.

On August 10th, the Annual Walker Bumstead Insurance & Financial Golf Tournament was held at the spectacular Cobble Beach Golf Resort in Owen Sound.
The event was attended by John and Marion (I’ll be in the spa if you need me) Mochrie and Brian (I don’t care if the rain is coming in sideways, let’s golf) Fish. Although Mother Nature did not cooperate at all times, the golfers survived the day on the course and a great meal and good times were shared by all following the tournament.
The Annual Walker Bumstead Insurance & Financial Tournament raises funds for local charities. Once again, the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation was selected as one of the recipients of the fundraising event. In the end $6,000.00 was raised for Foundation! Our success as a charity rests entirely on the people and the organizations that support us.
We would like to thank all the staff at Walker Bumstead Insurance & Financial for all their past and present support!
Walker-Bumstead Financial Inc. Pledge $50,000
March 29, 2011
Bumstead Insurance & Financial Financial Inc. has pledged $50,000 toward the Regional Rec Centre’s $5 million fund-raising campaign.
Partners Doug Bumstead and Paul Walker announced the gift today, in memory of their late fathers, Lloyd Bumstead and Gordon Walker, during a reception at company offices in Owen Sound.
“Our fathers were big supporters of their children and their grandchildren in sports. My father would attend hockey, ringette, lacrosse and swimming whenever he was able. It was great for the family to be together. This facility will bring years of healthy, fun, family time which will be great for our community and it makes me very proud that we can support it” Walker commented.
“The Rec Centre adds to our community’s growing health infrastructure,” Bumstead said. “We wanted this to be our gift from ourselves to the community because the community has been really good to us,” he said.
The 30-year-old Walker-Bumstead partnership provides insurance and financial advice for clients throughout the Grey-Bruce region from offices in Owen Sound.
“This is a welcome boost for our campaign,” fund-raising co-chair Sonya Mount said. “We’re more than half way to our goal and urge others to follow the Walker-Bumstead example,” she said.
Construction began a year ago on the 125,000 sq. ft. recreation centre which is a partnership of the city of Owen Sound, the Family Y and federal, provincial and municipal governments. The building houses two, NHL-sized arenas, a health and fitness centre, a walking/running track and two pools, one competition-sized and the other for leisure and therapy.
To make a donation, please call the campaign office at 519-376-0484, ext. 222. For more information, check the Regional Recreation Centre website at www.regionalreccentre.ca.
